Data Engineer - Python - AWS - Fully Remote (Europe)

This software business has built a unique platform that connects international students with universities in the UK. The platform does everything from helping students to sign up, allocating them a lawyer & assisting them with their move.

You will be joining a team that consists of nine other engineers who work across the UK & Europe. This includes their CTO who is involved in the day to day running of the platform and is who the role directly reports to.

They are operating remotely now & will be doing so indefinitely, though there is a London office if you’d prefer to work onsite. They're happy to consider people within +/- 2hrs of London so EU candidates, feel free to apply!

Why do they want to hire me?

They are now looking to utilise the valuable data they have both collected and have access to and are looking to using Data Science and Machine Learning to provide key insights and further streamline processes and automation. You’ll be solely responsible for scaling out their Data Engineering function and capabilities, getting involved in greenfield work and developing brand new pipelines and platforms for the business to really transform their current offerings.

What technical experience do I need?

As the first Data Engineering hire, you’ll need to be confident in taking a concept from end to end and will be responsible for the nut and bolts of the business data which will involve– developing the businesses data platform for the existing data science / ML support to apply ML models to. You will be expected to have strong experience with Data lakes and various relational and non-relational databases

Prior experience building Data pipelines / data lakes and data engineering solutions is essential, ideally within a SaaS environment, though the company doesn’t require any specific packages or frameworks! You should be proficient in

• Python
• AWS
• PostgreSQL / NoSQL
• DynamoDB

Having the right mindset is key, as you’ll occasionally need to step out of your comfort zone and upskill to get to a desired outcome. Your expertise will be key in driving the organisation forwards, and this role would suit someone looking to take that next step into a Senior position, or a Senior looking for more autonomy in their role!

What will I be paid & what are the benefits?

• Salary between £60,000 - £85,000 dependant on experience
• Full remote working – no expectation for you to ever be in the office unless you want to!

Side note - These benefits are only available for UK based employees. If you are based outside of the UK, you will only receive the holiday allowance.
