Engineering lead – New York – Up to $250,000 – 3 days on site

My client a fintech business who are building the next generation payment and loyalty system are looking for a technical lead / Engineering manager to join the growing team.

The business, a series A fintech start-up founded 4 years ago have circa 100 employees and have already raised over $50 million in funding and have an engineering team of 40 building out there payments and card platform.

As a engineering lead, you will be frontend heavy, leaning 70-30 towards the frontend and you will be managing a team of 6 JavaScript developer. The role will be a 50 / 50 hands on, hands off split and you will be responsible for code reviews, hiring and also looking at the architecture. The team currently are super talented but quite junior and you will be managing 3 junior developers and 3 mid-senior engineers and should be a JavaScript expert with a slight leaning towards the frontend.

You will with product teams and implement features on the web application and promote high engineering standards throughout the team. As a engineering lead, you will make technology decisions and constantly evaluate new technologies and feature development. To be successful you will be expected to have the following skills:
  • A minimum of 6 years’ experience in fullstack development
  • Very strong experience with react
  • Experience of mentoring / managing at least 2-3 engineers previously
  • Extremely proficient with JavaScript and a desire to remain hands on
  • Experience working with API’s and following modern software development methodologies
The client is paying a salary between $200,000 and $250,000 plus equity, unlimited vacation and fully covered private healthcare.
