Senior / Lead Engineer – AI subscription platform – Up to £100k – Fully remote

The company

I have an opportunity available for a truly ambitious & highly experienced engineer to join a startup & help to drive their product forwards.

Having started out last year, the trajectory the business is on is truly exceptional. With advisors from some of the world’s most well-respected businesses & plenty of funding already through, they’re now looking for an engineering expert to ensure their product is at the top of its game.

The businesses platform encompasses AI (& ML soon) to provide a regular, bespoke delivery of items to it’s users based on their preferences & previous feedback. Customers fill out a simple form to get started & once they receive their first delivery, the platform’s algorithm analyses what they did / didn’t like & provides them with a tailored parcel the following month.

It's a truly unique platform which is operating within a £100b+ industry & is only going to continue growing. The headcount currently stands at 15 & is due to double in the next year, if not sooner. The business operate on a fully remote model & are happy to consider people from Europe as well as the UK – however they expect there will be quarterly meetings for you to attend as a minimum.

The role

As the most senior engineer in the business, you will be responsible for making high-level technical decisions, leading feature builds & ensuring the product runs at an optimum.

The product has already been rolled out & has a strong number of long-term subscribers. Your first task when you join the business will be to help scale the platform & ensure that it can handle the huge amount of traffic due to come through it in the next six months. This will include implementing new React features, as well as improving on their existing microservice architecture & general infrastructure. Overall, I’d say the role will suit someone who works to a split of 60/40 in favour of backend best.

We need someone who is comfortable working both within a team & as an individual contributor, so whilst years of experience is always a slightly outdated way to analyse someone’s skills, you’ll need to have strong industry experience building & delivering complex features. You don’t need to have leadership or management experience but obviously this is a highly desirable skill to have!

The full tech stack you will have the chance to work with includes:

React, Node.js, TypeScript, AWS, Nest.js

You do not need to be an expert in all of these so if you are missing one or two, that’s okay!

• Final chat with external advisor – 30 mins

On offer is a salary between £75,000 - £100,000 DOE + significant equity in the business – really significant…
